Take-your-breath-away chess participants' list for Tal Chess Memorial 2011

You have more great chess coming up this year. The Russian Chess Federation has announced the list of participants for the Tal Chess Memorial 2011 to be held in November. 
The impressive list includes (hold your breath)
  • Magnus Carlsen (Norway, 2823)
  • Viswanathan Anand (India, 2817)
  • Levon Aronian (Armenia, 2807)
  • Vladimir Kramnik (Russia, 2791)
  • Sergey Karjakin (Russia, 2772)
  • Vassily Ivanchuk (Ukraine, 2765)
  • Hikaru Nakamura (USA, 2753)
  • Boris Gelfand (Israel, 2746)
  • Peter Svidler (Russia, 2740)
  • Ian Nepomniachtchi (Russia, 2718)
Yes, both Anand and Gelfand are on that list along with those super grandmasters of our times!


The average rating of 2775 is unprecendented for a 10-player round-robin. The tournament will be held from 16 to 25 November in Moscow. November 21st is a rest day. The games start at 15.00 local time; the last round at 12.00.


Guess the fantastic high-definition games' broadcast would also be there by the Russian Federation - as usual!

    Fantastic line-up. Are Anand and Gelfand really going to play each other before the title match - that too in Moscow? Sounds funky to me.

    Unbelievable line-up. Congratulations to the organisers for pulling it off. One or two other names could have been there but then you cannot replace anyone from this list either :) My husband is going to exult like a kid over this.
