IM Carolina Lujan wins Women's Zone 2.5 Chess Championship

Hi everyone,

The latest chess news from Fide is that IM Carolina Lujan from Argentina - the top seed - has won the Women's Zone 2.5 Championship with 7.5 points, full point ahead of WIM Marisa Zuriel (Argentina) and WFM Damila Colombo (Uruguay) (shared second place with 6.5 points each). Colombo also claims her final WIM norm.
Lujan qualifies for the 2012 Women’s World Championship in Russia.
The Women Zonal Chess Tournament – Zone 2.5 was held from 26th August to 5th September at the headquarters of the Chilean Chess Club. The championship was organised by the Chilean Chess Federation (AJEFECH) in cooperation with the Confederation of Chess for America (FIDE – AMERICA) and sponsored by the Chilean Foundation of Chess.

A total of 16 players, 7 from Chile, 5 from Argentina, 3 from Uruguay and 1 from Paraguay, competed in the 9-round Swiss tournament.
