Women's Chess Grand Prix R8: Hou Yifan leads with 7 points
Chess blog for latest chess news and chess trivia (c) Alexandra Kosteniuk, 2011
Hello everyone,
Hou Yifan is on a cruise holiday. Just kidding - but it fits just so aptly for her very nice performance at the ongoing Women's Grand Prix 2011/12 in Rostov. The young grandmaster has notched up a tally of 7 points after eight rounds. That's possibly an unassailable lead for the tournament.
You can access live games at the official website to cheer for all the girls playing such hard-fought games and beautiful chess. A pretty testimony for women's chess surely. Not one game is a dull draw. You can also read the press quotes by all the players about their games at this link.

Women's chess is really strong these days. I am sure it's only a matter of time before we will have lots of girls all over in the 2700 club. But its great to watch. Am sad they don't have live video feed from the playing hall though.
