Chess blog for latest chess news and chess trivia (c) Alexandra Kosteniuk, 2011

Hello everyone,

The latest chess news from the first in the Grand Prix Chess Series 2011/12 for women in Rostov is that Hou Yifan leads with four points after four rounds. Quite commendable that she has won all her games. Though the high-spirited chess at the event is of such strong calibre that all you can say is Viva Chess Women of our Chess Planet. Saturday is a rest day but hope you're not missing out on the fun at the live broadcast of games at this link. You can also read all the interesting press quotes by the players on their games at this link. Navigation from both these links will, of course, take you to the home page of the official tournament website.

Here are the Round 4 games.

Gosh I am breathless. Is there a tournament rule or something that the girls don't have to play games less than 50 moves or something. Phew. I love these super women of chess. Thrilling.

Maybe they are too cautious and plod along playing long games or are too closely matched with each other. Frankly, women's chess does not have the killer edge I love in men's chess. Thank you.

I don't get it. If people don't like women's chess why do they comment on it. Very funny.
