Akopian to miss World Cup.
ReplyDeleteGM Vladimir Akopian, unfortunately, will not be able to participate in the World Chess Cup which is set to start in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia on August 28, 2011.
Several days ago Akopian stumbled unluckily and broke his leg. After the surgery the doctors have recommended the Grandmaster not to travel for several weeks.
Akopian was paired against the Indian hope Parimarjan Negi in the first round. Thus, only two players will represent Armenia at the World Cup – Sergei Movsesian and Arman Pashikian.
