Hi everyone,
Peter Svidler is in sole lead at the 64th Russian Chess Superfinal after five rounds. With two rounds to go, he is ahead of the rest of the field with a full one point. In the fifth round, he beat Artyom Timofeev, while co-leader Alexander Morozevich lost to Ian Nepomniachtchi.
As you know, the Super Final of the 64th Russian Championship for men takes place August 7-15 (rest day on August 12) at the Botvinnik Central Chess Club in Moscow. It’s an 8-player, single round-robin. The time control is 90 minutes for the first 40 moves followed by 30 minutes to finish the game, with 30 seconds per move from move one. In the standings, we have Peter Svidler with 4 points, Morozevich with 3 points, Karjakin, Grischuk, Nepomniachtchi and Kramnik with 2.5 points each, Galkin with 2 points and Timofeev with 1 point.
