Cool chess video: Actor-musician version of Chess The Musical heading for UK tour

Chess blog for latest chess news and chess trivia (c) Alexandra Kosteniuk, 2011

Hi everyone,

The U.K. touring production of Chess, featuring a company of actor-musicians playing their own accompaniment, will hit Toronto’s Princess of Wales Theatre September 24, with an official opening September 28. The production will play through Oct. 30 prior to a run in London’s West End.

Craig Revel Horwood directs a cast of West End performers including James Fox (Fame Academy, Jesus Christ Superstar), Shona White (Wicked), Tam Mutu (Love Never Dies), Rebecca Lock (The Phantom of the Opera, Avenue Q), James Graeme (The Phantom of the Opera), David Erik (Dirty Dancing, The Phantom of the Opera) and Steve Varnom (The Woman in White), leading a cast of 30 actors and musicians.

Chess, the tale of a chess rivalry between an American player and a Russian player — and the lady attracted to both of them — has songs by Tim Rice and ABBA’s Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson. For a look at the actor-musician version of Chess, here's the video. For further information visit www.chess-the-musical.co.uk.
