August chess slump: How not to get depressed

Chess blog for latest chess news and chess trivia (c) Alexandra Kosteniuk, 2011

Hello everyone,

We knew this was bound to happen. We knew when it started. The super chess month of July 2011 would end.

  1. Dortmund Sparkassen is over.
  2. Biel Chess is over.
  3. World Team Chess Championship is over.
  4. Hanzhou women's chess is over.
  5. The Candidates 2011 was already over.

We've got withdrawal symptoms. Where are the Carlsens and Kramniks of the Chess Planet. Sob.
Take heart. Here are top tips not to get depressed.

1. Don't go blitzing like crazy on any of the online chess sites. It will make you more depressed.

2. Get printouts of all the top games from July and study them in bed.

3. Here is a list of chess events you can still follow. Stay chessy happy. They'll all be back soon.

4. Watch some old chess videos and films at www.kosteniuk.com or take up some great podcast chess learning course at www.chesskillertips.com.

5. Go on a training course yourself like your favourite chess players with chesskingtraining.com
.

6.Get into a fitness regime or a running hobby like the Chess Queen Alexandra Kosteniuk herself to improve your staying power at the board. Great way to flaunt your Chess Queen T-shirts.

And, of course, keep reading the www.chessblog.com and sending us your views, ideas and videos.
