Hi everyone,
Fide has announced the list for the World Chess Cup 2011 players. You can read the full list at this link. There will be 128 players in the event that will be organised from August 26 to September 21 in Khanty Mansiysk in a knockout format.
The winner would be able to play the next World Chess Championship Candidates tournament. This time the prize fund is going to be a whopping $1.6 million.
If you recall, last year's winner was Boris Gelfand who also won the Candidates Matches and is going to play the next World Chess Title Match against Viswanathan Anand - the reigning champion - in 2012.
