Preparation and luck will count in world title clash, says Boris Gelfand

Hello everybody,

World Chess Championship title contender Grandmaster Boris Gelfand, in an exclusive interview to Indian newspaper The Hindu, says, "I haven't heard about any bid from India. The only one that is known to me is the bid from Moscow." He also said, "Good preparation, high quality chess and probably luck will be the decisive factors in determining the next world chess champion.



When asked about his Candidates matches against Mamedyarov, Kamsky and Grischuk in terms of difficulty, Gelfand said the match against Mamedyarov was the easiest relatively as he had time to prepare while the match against Kamsky was the most difficult as he was close to being eliminated from the tournament.

    This is a very interesting situation. It's almost like mirrors - the two are supposedly very similar but then Gelfand agonises more while Anand remains cool. So we have Mr Agoniser vs Mr Cool. I just feel Gelfand has a very slight edge.
