Iranian chess film to make your Thursday interesting

Chess blog for latest chess news and chess trivia (c) Alexandra Kosteniuk, 2011

Hello everyone,

We have a cool chess film for you this Thursday.
The game of chess, according to the Iranian national epic, the Shahnama (Book of Kings), arrived in Iran with an envoy from India who threatened that the Raj would cease sending tribute to the shah unless he could figure out the riddle of the chessboard and its pieces. Watch the game of chess come to life in this 1974 film The Rook by director Ali Akbar Sadeghi.

It's a cartoon that runs through an entire game and it's fun to watch.

Very funny. There's a spot in the film where this Black Elephant (representing a Bishop I think) comes and stands in front of a Black pawn and the elephant's tail is tickling the pawn and its very funny ha ha h aha ha. Have fun Chess Queen. Needless to add I love you.
