The Netherlands Chess Championships are taking place from June 26 to July 5. The Men's Championship is a 10-player round robin while six women are competing in a double-round robin event. GM Jan Smeets is defending the title, while the 2009 champion GM Anish Giri is top seeded player. Six-times champion Loek Van Wely is not participating. GM Zhaoqin Peng (2375) is defending the women's title, which she has been winning for a record 11 straight years.
