Giri and Peng win Dutch National Chess Championships

Hello everyone,



Anish Giri and Peng Zhaoqin have won the Dutch National Chess Championship in the men's and women's section. Giri scored 7.5/9 with a 2850 perfomance while Peng scored 9/10 for her 13th title! Both were defending champions at the event. 

The Dutch Championships took place June 25 – July 5 in Boxtel, The Netherlands. Venue was the SintLucas College in Boxtel for both the Open and Women’s sections. The Open was a 10-player, single round robin with a first prize of 7,500 Euro; the Women’s section was a 6-player, double round robin with a first prize of 1,800 Euro. For both groups the rate of play was 90 minutes for the first 40 moves followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game with the addition of 30 seconds per move from move 1.
