Congratulations to GM Gata Kamsky for winning World Open 2011

Hi everyone,

Here is the latest chess news from the World Open 2011 - Gata Kamsky tied with Michael Adams for the top spot and then lifted the trophy through a Armageddon tiebreak match. The 39th World Open Festival was organised from June 28 to July 4 and included more than a thousand participants in different sections.


In the Armageddon match, Kamsky had five minutes with White and Adams had three minutes as Black. Here are the top standings:

    World Open is bigger than the US National Championship itself in the US. People really wait for it. I missed it this year unfortunately. Hope to play next year.
