Magnus Carlsen began the Biel Chess Tournament with a nice win over Yannick Pelletier. The other two games were draws. The 44th Biel Chess Festival is taking place in Switzerland from July 18-29. The main event - Accentus Grandmaster Tournament - is a six-player round robin section with - Magnus Carlsen (Norway), Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (France), Alexei Shirov (Spain), Fabiano Caruana (Italy), Alexander Morozevich (Russia) and Yannick Pelletier (Switzerland).
