Three chess players among top-5 most popular Armenian sportspersons
Chess blog for latest chess news and chess trivia (c) Alexandra Kosteniuk, 2011
Hi everybody,
This is cool news. Three people listed in a list of top-five sportspersons in Armenia are chess players! The first group of five of the most popular sportsmen includes chess players Elina Danielian, Levon Aronian and boxer Artur Abraham, chess player Lilit Mkrtchyan and trainer of national football team of Armenia Vardan Minasyan.
Certainly chess is viewed by the majority as a non-spectator sport so it's all the more gratifying when you have chess players figuring as well-known sports personalities in their countries.
Just goes to show, no matter what anyone says, chess is still the best.
