It's one of those lesser-known but well-attended open chess tournament that's in its anniversary edition. We are talking about the 25th International Chess Open Tournament Pula 2011 that is being held at the Hotel Histria in Pula, Croatia from June 18-25 with a prize fund of 11.000 EUR. There are 360 players participating this year.
After five rounds of play top seed GM Aleksandar Kovacevic (SRB 2575) is leading with a perfect score. Nine players - GM Fercec Nenad CRO 2453, GM Zelcic Robert CRO 2557, GM Tratar Marko SLO 2489, IM Mencinger Vojko SLO 2399, IM Bellia Fabrizio ITA 2415, GM Drazic Sinisa SRB 2486, GM Antal Gergely HUN 2530, IM Doric Darko CRO 2456 and GM Shengelia David AUT 2511 - are in shared second spot with 4.5 points each.
