Chess board to commemorate 100-year-old women's community club legacy in Fort Morgan

Hello everyone,

This is a news item that would have remained tucked in the corner of the Internet but for a sweet gesture - a chess board as a symbol of a 100-year-old legacy. We feel happy at the thought of how many people, how many kids would go by this chessboard and... perhaps... savour the joy the game gives for a lifetime.

A permanent memorial to the Women`s University Club was dedicated Saturday at Fort Morgan City Park as the 100-year-old organisation disbanded.

Officials and club members gathered to open up an outside, oversized chess board along with a bench and plaque in front of the Fort Morgan Museum and Public Library, which will be a lasting legacy of the organisation which has helped the community in a number of ways.

You can read the news item at this link and smile at the thought of lots of people having fun at this chessboard for years.
