Chess blog for latest chess news and chess trivia (c) Alexandra Kosteniuk, 2011
Hi everyone,
The Cez Chess Trophy - a six-game match between David Navara and Sergey Movsesian - was organised from June 13-19 in Prague. Navara won the match with a 3.5-2.5 score. On the sidelines of the match a simul was also organised by World Chess Champion Vishy Anand. Former World Chess Champion Anatoly Karpov also visited the event. A nice pictorial report is available at www.chessvibes.com.
You can access the official website at this link. Anand also performed the drawing of lots and the first move in the match between local star David Navara and Sergey Movsesian (Armenia).
There were also lectures by Lubomir Kavalek, Yochanan Afek and Vitezslav Houska, a quiz by Vlastimil Hort, simul by GM Jan Smejkal, the launch of a book about Karel Opocensky and a chess philately exhibition. A special postage stamp was also issued on the occasion.
