Chess blog for latest chess news and chess trivia (c) Alexandra Kosteniuk, 2011
Hi everybody,
We have seen an increase in the number of chess tournaments lately for seniors. It would be great when someday tournament calendars across the world have enough chess tournaments for seniors and amateurs like the way we have regular chess tournaments. So, all of you, get your grandparents or parents going to Stockholm this June for the International Senior Tournament in Sweden.
The tournament will be held from June 1-6 at the Täby Park Hotel, in Stockholm, Sweden. The Scandinavian Chess Tournament (SCT) has announced the tournament that is open to men of the age 60 or older and women of the age 50 or older. Tournament format is seven-round FIDE Swiss system, and the time limit is two hours per player per game to finish. The results will be rated with FIDE.
Besides the regular prize fund of 5000 EUR, there will be gift prizes in the value of 3000 EUR. Money prizes: 1st prize € 1000, 2nd prize € 800, 3rd € 600, and so on in descending order 500 €, 400 €, 300 €, 250 €, 150 €. Prizes are not shared.
You can get more information from the Chief Arbiter IA Jonas Sandbom, phone: +46 73-6131973 (mobil), or at the official website. Don't forget to tell us about sending your grandparents and parents to the tourney. Maybe take a chess holiday with them!
