As new countries build up their chess traditions, it makes the rest of us proud and happy for our chess world. So, congratulations to everyone who played the Mauritianian national chess championships earlier this week.
The Mauritanian Chess Championships concluded on Saturday with Mostapha Ould Ekkar crowned as National Champion and Ahmed Ould Abdallahi as Champion under 16. Both Champions will have the honour to represent Mauritania in the 2011 international competitions.

The Mauritanian Chess Championships concluded on Saturday with Mostapha Ould Ekkar crowned as National Champion and Ahmed Ould Abdallahi as Champion under 16. Both Champions will have the honour to represent Mauritania in the 2011 international competitions.
Ali Moktar Kreikid, Secretary General of the Mauritanian Chess Federation, speaking on the occasion, emphasised the the importance of chess from a cultural and scientific point of view and how scholastic chess was growing in importance.
We wish them great success in chess development in their country.
