Hello everyone,

Soon we will have Europe's strongest women chess players gathering in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi for the European Women's Individual Chess Championship from May 7-18. For now, the top seed is going to be Nana Dzagnidze. The inaugural championship in 2000 was held in Batumi and after an eleven year absence Georgia will again be the centre of attention for European Women’s Chess.

According to entries, about 130 players, representing 26 countries in Europe, have already registered for the event with 46 players from Georgia itself. The head referee for the Championships will be Nana Aleksandria while the President of the Georgian Chess Federation, Gio Giorgadze, has been named as director of the tournament.
