Alexander the Great Chess Open starts in Thessaloniki, Greece

Hi everyone,

The Thessaloniki International Chess Open 'Alexander the Great' started today (Monday). There is a follow-up chess event clubbed with this - the Sofia's "St. George" Chess tournament (May 4th - May 9th) for a local Grand Prix Chess cycle.

The overall winner of the two competitions will receive free accommodation in the 2011 Bansko Grand Chess Open(the top winter open event, December 11-18), while the second and third places receive free accommodation for Thessaloniki International Open. Winners are decided by calculations of points in each tournament. Tiebreak will be decided by blitz games after the end of the second tournament.
