We like the quaint name - The 5th Asian Dragons Open Chess Tournament 2011! It will be held in Taipei, Taiwan, from August 6-13, 2011.
The Asian Dragons Invitational Tournament was held for the first time in the city of Kaohsiung in 2007 - the first international chess tournament organised by the Chinese Taipei Chess Association. It was a new opportunity for chess lovers in the region particularly for those rated below 2200.
The tournament was a was played in round-robin format for the Open section and Under 16 section with players coming from the countries like Macau, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Korea and the host Fed. Chinese Taipei.
It is wonderful that now the tournament is going to be on the Swiss format as a full-fledged open chess tournament giving more opportunity for chess players in the region. They can now have participants from all over the world!

Great opportunity for players in the region. I hope to play. Chess is yet to pick up in the Macau Hong Kong Taipei region because most people still go for Mah Jong, casino games etc what with Macau being this part of the world's Las Vegas. Very good that organisers come forward. Doesn't make sense if people say chess tournaments are fading out. Happy chess in Moscow Chess Queen.
