Hi everyone,
The Queen's Diamond Jubilee commemorative chess set will go on sale in the autumn.
A commemorative chess set featuring five-and-a-half-inch sized sculptured versions of The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh in their Garter Ceremony robes will be issued on the occasion of the British Queen's Diamond Jubilee next year. A Hull-based games manufacturing company has been commissioned to produce the royal chess set.
Other pieces in the chess set include the Dean of Windsor, Right Rev David Conner as the bishop and Windsor Castle's Round Tower as the rook.
The knight will be based on the Military Knights of Windsor and the pawns are represented as choristers from St George's Chapel.
Each chess piece will carry the Royal Cypher of Queen Elizabeth II, which has been sanctioned by Lord Chamberlain's Office.
The Queen's Diamond Jubilee chess set will be the company's first commemorative production and managing director Michael Lee said it is their most prestigious range to date:Anne Carlton has been manufacturing traditional game sets including backgammon, dominos, Mah Jong and chess since the late 1960s.
The chess set will cost a princely sum of £200 with the blue and white veneer chequered board to retail at an additional £80. It will go on sale in October 2011.
