Chess blog for latest chess news and chess trivia (c) Alexandra Kosteniuk, 2011

World's youngest grandmaster also playing in Iceland:
14-year-old GM Illya Nyzhnik (2530) from Ukraine

Hi everybody,

The news from the Reykjavik Chess Festival is that two players are leading with a perfect score after four rounds. These are Greek Grandmaster Stelios Halkias and American Grandmaster Robert l. Hess. Fourteen players - including top seed British Grandmaster Luke McShane - are just a shade behind at 3.5 points. Among the women players, WGM Anna Sharevich is doing pretty well with a score of 3.5 which includes a nice win over last year's Reykjavik Open winner, Icelandic GM Hannes Stefansson (2557). Here are the standings after four rounds:

  1. The pgn player won't move the pieces. The score doesn't look quite right underneath it.
