If you're in the Detroit area today don't forget to meet up with Chess Queen Alexandra Kosteniuk. More than 200 youth chess players will compete today at the Thinkers Chess Challenge Final. The event will feature an appearance by Chess Queen Alexandra Kosteniuk, the 2008 Women's World Chess Champion.
The event will take place 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at the UAW-Ford Building, 151 W. Jefferson.
Kindergartners through 12th-graders, from beginner to advanced levels, can register to compete. Advance registration is $15 online atwww.weplaychess.webs.com or $20 at the door. For information on the Detroit City Chess Club, go to www.detroitcitychessclub.com or call 248-219-5702.
