Double strike in Moscow: Grandmaster Le Quang Liem
Congratulations to Grandmaster Le Quang Liem for winning the Aeroflot Chess Open 2011 for the second time in a row. Going into the last round on Wednesday, he was tied with Grandmaster Ivan Cheparinov for the first place with 6 points each.
In the final round Liem drew with Rauf Mamedov but Cheparinov went down fighting to GM Nikita Vitiugov. Incidentally, the only game Liem lost in the Open was to Cheparinov! You can find more details at the official tournament website at www.aeroflotchess.com.
Tomorrow is the qualification event for the World Blitz Chess Championship. Stay tuned more updates to follow.

i think even though vitiugov has same points as liem the latter wins on more whites and higher average of opponents.

OMG, I was waiting for the final results because there are 3 ones have the same 6.5 points & Le Quang Liem is one of them. I think he become the winner from getting better extra elements than 2 remaining guys. Le Quang Liem become the first one who can win the Aeroflot in 2 years continuous (2010 & 2011).
He's great ! And we Vietnamese are so proud of him !
