Chess news and chess trivia blog (c) Alexandra Kosteniuk, 2011

Hi Everybody,

The Georgian national women's chess tournament has begun in Anaklia from January 9, 2011. Surely one of the strongest women's chess tournaments in the world!

Some of the best Georgian women chess players are there. The first round began with an upset that saw Miranda Mikadze beating Nazi Paikidze who had created a sensation at the Russian Women's Chess Championship in 2010.

We will try and get you more details soon.

Meanwhile, here is a fun song video carried by www.chess-news.ru of Georgian chess player Sofiko Guramishvili, 2330, who is not taking part in the championship. Enjoy!
