GM Zoltan Almasi wins European Rapid Chess Championship 2010

Hello Everyone,

Chess news from Poland has it that GM Zoltan Almasi of Hungary has won the European Rapid Chess Championship 2010. GM Almasi had to go through the torture of an Armageddon playoff in the Polish city of Warsaw to take the title after a six-way tie for first. He beat GM Gashimov to win first while GM Ivanchuk beat GM Shirov to finish third. Here are the final results of top-20 standings. You can check the full results here at the official website.

    chess is a universal language now. no one country thing any more... but somehow average wise Russia still rules... maybe, China is catching up but still Russia rules overall average wise.
