Chess news and chess trivia blog (c) Alexandra Kosteniuk, 2010
Hello Everyone,
We continue our video series about chess, dance and music.
The Russian version of Dancing on Ice (Танцы на льду) is being aired on Rossiya TV channel since September 2006, and was renamed in 2008 to Star Ice (Звёздный лёд). Its counterpart called Ice Age (Ледниковый период, initially Stars on Ice - Звёзды на льду) is being broadcast on Channel One. 'Ice and Fire' the latest show includes 18 pairs of celebrities competing in not one but two genres - figure skating and modern dance - according to the producer of the show Ilya Averbukh.
Olympic champions in figure skating, who have never performed on stage - work out the elements of modern dance. And the audience - of course, vote for their favourite couple.
Here is a video of Zara and Anton Sikharulidze presenting a dance number titled 'Chess' in the episode telecast on December 5, 2010. Thanks to www.chess-news.ru for leading us to this nice video. Enjoy.

Very beautiful. Does the 'chess piece' girl die in the end? It signifies checkmate?
