GM Bruzon Batista Lazaro

Hello Everyone,

The Magistral Ciutat de Barcelona - a popular tournament in Europe - concluded on November 13 with Cuban Grandmaster Bruzon Batista Lazaro taking the top prize.

The Magistral Casino de Barcelona 2010 was a round robin tournament with ten players and was held in the scenic Spanish capital. It had very few draws and real fighting games. And the final results saw a tie between Ivan Salgado and Lazaro Bruzon with the latter winning on tiebreak points.

Bruzon had defeated Salgado in the first round, but then the Spaniard had scored six straight victories. In the last round, when Salgado drew Ernesto Inarkiev, Bruzon was able to catch up with him for a shared first place. And, the first-round win gave Bruzon the champion's title.
