China leads in 16th Asian Games team chess event after four rounds

Hello Everyone,

China is leading both in the men's and women's section at the team chess event in the 16th Asian Games being played in Guangzhou, China. You can find a live broadcast of the games at www.asia-chess.com.

China beat India, in the men's section, 2.5-1.5 on a win on board four by Ni Hua over G N Gopal as all three other boards were drawn.

China with 8 match points is sure to make it to one of the four semi-final berths. India is likely to get the second slot with 6 match points with the Philippines who beat Kazakhstan 2.5-1.5 on a win on third board by GM John Paul Gomez over GM Rinat Jumabayev. The other three boards were draws.

In the women's section, Bangladesh gave a tough fight to China but eventually lost 2.5-1.5. Untitled Sultana Sharmin Shirin of Bangladesh beat GM Zhao Xue on the second board. China and India are leading in the women's section.
