Chess news and chess trivia blog (c) Alexandra Kosteniuk, 2010
Hello Everyone,
You will love both this photograph that's our trivia question this week and the chess puzzle. They're not from the same date though.
First, the photograph. Can you guess who is this lovely young couple? (Sorry, no hints.) The photograph was tweeted by a fan.
And, here is a puzzle. Not from their game though.
White in any case is winning this. But how about White to play and mate in three.
It's a bit tricky but if you can coordinate all your pieces well, you'll manage it. Watch out for the Black King getting stalemated or escaping.

Hey how can anyone miss them... isn't it Bella and Edward. How cute. Working on the puzzle though.
ReplyDeleteVery cool - nice but hey there is a beauty hidden there... I take the liberty to write it down. 1.Rb1 Kg7 2.Qb2 now Black King as 3 options and all lead to checkmate
ReplyDelete3.... Kf6 then 4.Rb6 1-0#
3.... Kh8 then 4.Qb2 1-0# (I like this one)
3.... Kh6 then 4.h8=Q 1-0# (I like this best)
.
Hey that's a cute one.
ReplyDeletethat's a great one - i mean both the puzzle and the photograph. :)
