Guess you're following the chess action in the Europe Chess Club Cup at their official website already. It is interesting to note that after two rounds, 11 teams have pulled off victories in both their rounds in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
Some top chess action is on with Aronian, Eljanov, Grischuk, Mamedyarov, Ivanchuk, Gelfand, Shirov and Radjabov in the Open Section. In the Women's section, you can spot Koneru Humpy, Anna Muzychuk, Pia Cramling, Almira Skripchenko, Katyrna Lahno, Natalija Pogonina, Viktorija Cmilyte and others.
A total of 351 players are in the open section, with 135 GMs, 61 IMs, and 247 titled players altogether. 24 of them are rated over 2700 Elo, making it one of the strongest team events of the year. The women's section has 64 players with ten GMs, 23 IMs, and 51 titled players.
The European Club Cup for Men and Women started on October 16th 2010 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria (about 130 km south-east of the capital Sofia).
Team SOCAR Azerbaijan are the rating favorites in open section (Mamedyarov, Grischuk, Shirov, Radjabov, Vachier-Lagrave, Kasimdzhanov, Mamedov, Safarli) and team Cercle d’Echecs de Monte Carlo are the rating favorites in women section (Koneru, Hou, Muzychuk, Cramling , Skripchenko).
