Hi Everyone,

One of the most-awaited and top-rated chess events of the year has begun - Bilbao Final Chess Masters 2010.

The opening day was marked by Vladimir Kramnik's win over Magnus Carlsen in a Queen’s Indian game even while Alexei Shirov and Viswanathan Anand decided to draw their Berlin Wall game.

The 3rd Masters Final is taking place from October 9-15 in Bilbao, Spain. Viswanathan Anand, Magnus Carlsen, Vladimir Kramnik and Alexei Shirov will be playing a double round-robin with a rate of play of 90 minutes for the first 40 moves and another 60 minutes to finish the game, with 10 seconds increment from move 41.

The 'Sofia rule' at the tournament uses the scoring system where three points are awarded for a win, one for a draw and zero for a loss. You can watch the action live at the official website here.

Here are the round one games. You can watch them in flash below or run the moves through our pgnplayer.
