Simple Chess Puzzle for Saturday night

GM David Bronstein

Hello Everyone,

David Ionovich Bronstein (Дави́д Ио́нович Бронште́йн) was a Russian grandmaster, who narrowly missed becoming World Chess Champion in 1951. Bronstein was known as a creative, tactical and attacking player. He was also well-known as a chess writer.

Here is a simple puzzle from one of his games against - none other than - Paul Keres.

Can you figure out how White concluded the attack?

Bronstein-Keres, Budapest, 1950
White to play and win

  1. Yes - this is the kind of 'Puzzle' I like best positions from actual games that have themes you (or I) might be able use in our own games some day.
