A smiling Kateryna Lahno getting her champion's prizes
Hi everybody!
The Women's Blitz World Championship just ended tonight, and I am glad to be able to announce that Kateryna Lahno won it, so she's the new 2010 Women's World Blitz Champion!
Kateryna played excellent chess throughout and got 20 points out of 30 games. The tournament was extremely strong, with 7 out of the top 10 women of the planet playing, and 7 players holding the title of Grandmaster, men (GM). Note that the average rating of the top 10 finishers is 2531 ELO, it was an extremely strong tournament, most likely the strongest women's blitz chess tournament ever!
