NH Chess Tournament: Rising Stars increase lead
GM Hikaru Nakamura
Hello Everyone,
The team of Rising Stars put up a great show in the seventh round at the NH Chess Tournament by beating the Experience team by 3½-1½. Hikaru Nakamura beat Loek van Wely in a nice game and Fabiano Caruana beat Peter Heine Nielsen.
The NH Chess Tournament takes place August 12-22 in hotel Krasnapolsky, in the heart of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. As always, the tournament is a confrontation between a team of five young ‘Rising Stars’ and a team of five ‘Experienced’ grandmasters.
Here is the nice Nakamura-Wely game. You can run the moves in pgnplayer or watch in flash below. You can also see the official website for some great videos and reports. Ironically, Wely had annotated this very variation of the game for New in Chess and then forgot it all.
