Chess kids: What fun to watch!

Happy photos from Sixth World School Chess Championship.

Hello Everyone!

It's always a pleasure to watch children play chess. And, it's great to know when parents encourage their children to take up chess. There is just something so special about chess kids.

So, here are some fun photos from the Sixth World School Chess Championship. The event is being held from July 21-30, 2010, in Kayseri, Turkey, under the aegis of the Turkish First Lady, Hayrünnisa Gül. Players between seven and 17 years are competing in 12 categories!

If your kid plays chess do write to us about your fun experiences as a chess parent.

Andi Rosen, mother of Eric who won 2009's U.S. Junior Open Tournament wrote this interesting article on the recently-concluded U.S. Junior Closed Tournament's official website.

"Since our son started out as an 8-year-old player taking a casual park district class and has progressed along the ranks to national master, we thought we’d traveled every road, and if you’re reading this, chances are you have too. From playing at the kitchen table after dinner to all-day scholastic events to planning every major holiday weekend and bit of vacation time to revolve around chess tournaments, and developing Vitamin D deficiencies as the result of having spent countless weekends in hotel basements, we thought we’d traveled every path."
