Seventeen-year-old WFM Vo Thi Kim Phung has won the 2010 Asian Girls' U-20 Chess Championship which ended in India on June 24.
After nine rounds, Kim Phung and Nakhbayeva from Kazakhstan both had 7.5 points but the Vietnamese chess player won on tie-break. Padmini Rout from India won the bronze medal.
The 2010 Asian Girls' U-20 Chess Championship brought together 53 young masters from eleven countries and territories in Asia. You can read more news reports on the championship here.
Meanwhile, 18-year-old Shyam Sundar of India won the gold in the boys' section. He also earned a Grandmaster norm from the tournament. You can see some of the boys' section games here.
