Hello everyone!
The King's gambit - 1.e4 e5 2. f4 is rarely played at top-level chess. But talented Fide No. 1 Magnus Carlsen had a logical reason to use it against Wang Yue in the fourth round at the Kings Tournament, in Medias, Romania, on Thursday.
"Things weren't going so well in the tournament. I thought I'd just try it and see how it goes," Carlsen told journalists after the game.
The Gambit certainly did go well considering Carlsen won the full point in 54 moves. Here is the pgn of the nice game that you can run through our pgnplayer.

The King's Gambit is one of the oldest-known chess openings detailed in a manuscript attributed to Lucena dating back to the 11th Century!
Carlsen and Teimour Radjabov have 2.5/4 followed by Grandmasters Nisipeanu, Ponomariov and Gelfand after four rounds at the tournament. Wang Yue is in sixth place with 1 point in the double round-robin tournament this year.
